Blog Post Week 3

The next steps for me to take is determining all the bacteria properties. I took a glucose fermentation test by inoculating  a small sample of the bacteria into the test tube. If the bacteria turns red that means the bacteria does not produce the ability to break down glucose into acids. Yellow means the bacteria does have the ability. The SIM test tests to see if the bacteria can reduce sulfur by converting sulfur into hydrogen sulfide, produce indole out of tryptophanase,  or possess flagella that will grant the bacteria the ability to move. Indole test is the next step and it does exactly what the SIM test does pertaining to indole. The final test is the gelatin test that see if the bacteria can turn the gelatin into peptide, polypeptide, or amino acid. After completing all these test, I should be able to identify my unknown bacteria soon.
